when i was young(er) my favorite spice girls song was always “if u can’t dance” (if you can’t dance to this, you can’t do nothing for me baby) and now it’s all falling into place. there is nothing more natural than movement. first movement is rocking in the womb; first music is your mother’s heartbeat (and your own). everything we do is derived from there. (sometimes, we need to go back and remember) movement is so pure and beyond your own body. every molecule of you affects every molecule around you—each and every cell in your body knows which way is down. dancing is carnal, natural, instinctive, pure, and uncomplicated. if you can’t get into your own body, why would i ever give you mine?
